Downtown Hartford is one of our favorite local places for engagement photography. It has a little bit of everything, from marble architecture to greenery and romantic flowers. You would never think it would be such a wonderful spot for photos just driving through the tiny city!
We spent this entire engagement session laughing, and had an absolute blast with Dan and Erika. It felt like we’d been friends for ages, and we loved how happy and joyful these two are together. You can see how much fun they have with one another in the photos! We started at the Capitol building, which is one of the most beautiful buildings in the state. It has incredible marble pillars and sculptures on the front of the building, with warm wooden doors. The colors were perfect with Dan and Erika’s outfits, and I loved Erika’s adorable cut-out sandals.
After the Capitol building, we explored the surrounding area and Bushnell Park. One of the great things about Hartford is how many wonderful hidden gems the city has, that may not even look spectacular in person but are just lovely for photography.
One of my personal favorite things to do is have couples dance for a few photos. Erika and Dan nailed it, complete with a dip at the end!
The next couple photos were one of those moments where Chris and I look completely ridiculous, but the result is magical. We always joke that one of us (usually Chris!) ends up laying on the ground to get a shot just right. I was laying fully on the ground for this one, which is a pretty great way to get a couple laughing once they notice!
Congratulations on your engagement, Dan and Erika! We had a blast with you guys!
