An Elevated Backyard Wedding

This was the backyard wedding to end all backyard weddings. Nikki and Jon were married at her family’s summer home, with an outdoor ceremony under blue skies and their tented reception filled with candles, unique lights and flowers. It’s so special that they’ll be able to visit this place again and again with their family for summers to come!

Their invitations featured a custom watercolor illustration of the property, including the beautiful Lake Waramaug and surrounding town. Nikki wore a stunning Marchesa gown, and Jon wore a stylish gray suit from Suit Supply.

The ceremony was held outside, with a stunning view of the Fall foliage just starting to turn, and the lake. Danielle of Flowers by Danielle had created a beautiful garland of flowers to add to the already beautiful setting, as well as flowers along the aisles.

We love a good ceremony exit, and Nikki and Jon’s was spectacular. Upon entering the ceremony, guests had gotten small cones of white flower petals, which they tossed into the air in celebration as Nikki and Jon left their ceremony as husband and wife. The excitement and joy in the air was contagious!

Following the ceremony at cocktail hour guests enjoyed live music, an incredible raw bar, and lawn games with a stunning view. When we first met Nikki and Jon, we knew we were going to get along. They planned to have signature drinks inspired by their two cats Reggie and Norman, and Karri Lee Designs created the most lovely custom drink menu featuring custom watercolor portraits of the two! (Plus, any cocktail that includes bourbon and apple cider is a win for me.)

The portraits after a ceremony are one of our favorite parts of the day. The moment when a couple has finally said “I do”, and all they’ve been building towards in the months and moments beforehand has come together is so exciting. And of course we had to visit the lake for a few portraits before the reception!

The tent for their reception was brimming with gorgeous flowers, flickering candles, and a string of unique edison bulbs over the head table courtesy of Vivid Events. Instead of traditional round tables, there were long family style tables mixed in throughout the tent with floral garlands running down the center. Couches in the corners of the tent made a comfortable place for guests to rest in between dinner and dancing. It made the large space feel so much more intimate!
