Hartford has some of the best locations for engagement or couple’s photos, especially if you’re interested in something different than the usual woodsy Connecticut sessions. I love the greenery and woods that Connecticut offers, but Hartford has beautiful architecture and symmetry that’s perfect for photography.
We took these at the Connecticut State Capitol building right in the middle of Downtown Hartford. The building itself is gorgeous, and it’s right next to Bushnell Park, so if you’re looking for variety in your engagement photography it’s a great spot!
February in Connecticut can be COLD, but Frappo and Jen braved the weather with Chris and I to get these photos. I’m always grateful for couples that are willing to venture into the cold with us, and Jen is originally from Texas, so I’m extra impressed!
This was one of our new Epic Sessions; these are about 3 hours long so that we can get photos while the sun is up, setting, and after sun set.
Starting while the sun is still up lets us capture images full of warm golden light like the ones above. It almost looks like it was warm out!
We have a lot of fun experimenting during these sessions with unique lighting like the photos above. Chris laughs at me because I call these the “twinkle lights” instead of using the real name for them, but they have a fairy tale quality to them so I’m sticking with it. The setting sun creates such soft light, perfect for romantic engagement photos!
Once it started to get dark it was time to get really creative. With the Epic Session it allows for some unique couples or engagement photo ideas. Get the best of both worlds, and have amazing pictures in the day and one of a kind images as the sun goes down and the stars come out!
