Hotel Marlowe Wedding in September
Joel & Christina Perkins – Married September 3, 2016
Christina and Joel were married in Cambridge this September, and Chris and I were so excited to photograph a wedding in the Boston area. I used to live in Boston what seems like a lifetime ago, and the city is near and dear to my heart (GO SOX!) Christina and I also graduated from the same school, and I was excited to be working with a fellow Gordon Grad. Keep scrolling to see more of their beautiful Hotel Marlowe Wedding!
They were married in the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel, which has a ton of unique details Chris and I were SO pumped to photograph. Christina’s hair and makeup were done by Blushing Brides Boston, and she and her bridesmaids wore adorable monogrammed robes while getting ready.
Now, Christina may not be the first bride to be incredibly excited about the shoes she wears on her wedding day. But she may be the only one bad ass enough to wear bright white and gold Jordans down the aisle! Joel gifted her a box of adorable goodies before the ceremony, but as you can see Christina had some serious heart eyes for those shoes!
It’s always a fun juggling game when the guys are getting ready in the same place as the girls! Joel and his groomsmen got ready at Hotel Marlowe, and the groom wore an awesome suit from The Black Tux (which is similar to Rent The Runway, but instead carries stylish garb for the guys.)
Christina wore a stunning Paloma Blanca dress from Dream, a bridal boutique in Sudbury, MA. The owner, Malinda, makes sure every bride has a unique experience by providing only private appointments. I remember how hectic wedding dress shopping was for my own wedding, and wish I had heard about Dream at the time! The dress had sparkling crystal buttons down the back and gorgeous lace panels.
Their ceremony was held outside of the hotel on a gorgeous September day, surrounded by swaying willow trees along the Charles River; it was an incredibly peaceful haven in a bustling city.
Of course my favorite moment of a wedding day is when Chris and I get some time alone with the newlyweds to do portraits. The area surrounding Hotel Marlowe had so many gorgeous spots, and my favorite was this incredible ivy covered bridge. Occasionally a little tourist barge would come through, and passengers would exchange congratulations and whoops of joy for Joel and Christina.
Christina requested a butt grab shot, and how could we resist? It’s basically the perfect opportunity for a gorgeous shot of the ring 😉
And this picture, guys…I’m so in love with this picture that it’s become the header of our new home page (not the butt grab, the one below…though I was tempted.)
Joel and Christina’s reception was held inside at the Hotel Marlowe, with centerpieces from Lotus Designs Flowers. The space looked stunning, and I have to say this was one of the most energetic and FUN receptions we’ve ever gotten to be a part of. You can tell how much joy everyone experienced and how much fun Joel and Christina have together.
At the end of the night, we pulled Joel and Christina outside for some photos with the city lights as their backdrop. It was the perfect end to a beautiful night!
Congratulations, Joel and Christina!
